Our company

In 1885, the ‘Messagerie de la Presse’ was founded by Louis Bertrand and his friend F. Charté in order to cut back on packaging and postage costs. They were able to save money by bundling together publications being sent to outlets in the same area. In 1886, the Messagerie de la Presse was given the respective name of ‘Dechenne en Cie’, ‘Message de la Presse et Comptoir Général de Bruxelles’, ‘Agence Dechenne, Messagerie de la Presse’. Following World War II, the company was renamed ‘Agence et Messageries de la Presse – Persagnetschap, Vervoer en Distributie’ (A.M.P. – P.V.D.). In early 1999, it received its current name of AMP.

To this very day, the core business of AMP has remained the distribution of publications right to end users via all outlets in the country. Our network currently distributes to around 4,500 outlets, including newsstands, supermarkets, petrol stations, etc. Every day, the company distributes more than 425,000 magazines and 260,000 newspapers that include 6,000 unique magazine titles and 180 newspaper titles from local and international publishers.
